About EZS

The Elektrotehniška zveza Slovenije (EZS) (Electrotechnical Association of Slovenia) is a voluntary, independent and non-profit-making society of regional and specialized professional associations in Slovenia. It operates on the basis of its own program, and keeps up to date with the topical professional and organizational issues in the sphere of electrical engineering.

The EZS is a member of the SIZ (Slovenian Engineers' Association); it cooperates with the Slovenian Engineers' Chamber, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, the Ministry of the Information Society, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of the Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy, the Ministry of the Economy, the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, the Telecommunications, Broadcasting and Post Agency of the Republic of Slovenia, the Energy Agency, the National Office for Spatial Planning, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of Ljubljana, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of Maribor, Ljubljanski sejem (Ljubljana Fair) and INFOS, and also with the most important European and world organizations that cover this area (IEEEFEANIIECITUCIGREETSICEN and CENELEC).

The signing of a Cooperation Agreement between the EZS (as a sister society) and the IEEE Communication Society is an important achievement of international cooperation. With this agreement, the EZS members have become equal to the ComSoc members in terms of subscriptions to ComSoc publications and fees for ComSoc conferences. The agreement also encourages the publishing of articles in the ComSoc journals, and the mutual promotion of the two societies.

With a separate decree, the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, gave the Association the status of a society that works in the public interest in the sphere of science and technology.

For several decades, the Association has been playing an important role in bringing together and educating electrical engineers, promoting and directing research and development, working closely with companies, and promoting this branch of the profession.

The EZS has been paying great attention to the development of Slovenian electrotechnical terminology and has been cooperating with SAZU (the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts). In collaboration with the administrative bodies of the Republic of Slovenia, it has been working on regulatory issues; and with SIST (the Slovenian Institute for Standardization), it has been working on standardization issues. It also assists the section of electrical engineers in the Slovenian Engineers' Chamber with activities related to the construction of facilities.

By issuing publications, organizing courses, workshops and professional conferences, the EZS is becoming a public professional forum, a place where the topical issues of electrical engineering are being discussed.

Electrotechnical Review, a bulletin of the EZS, has been in existence for 70 years, and is published five times a year.
